Since 1951 Grand Isle Volunteer Fire Department has been providing coverage for the Town of Grand Isle and neighboring towns. It all started with a 1928 Chevrolet Truck that had a portable pump on the back, someone’s garage to call a fire station and a group of dedicated people to help provide this service to our town
The department over the years has grown and evolved greatly. Currently Grand Isle Fire resides in a 7,400sqft building located on Hyde Road and includes amongst its apparatus two pumpers, a heavy rescue truck, a water tanker, a brush truck, trailer and boat. While the fire station and apparatus has changed over these decades its members are still dedicated to help our town.
